Ranch Parts Ways with The Fountain To all concerned, I'm writing this letter to inform you that New Fountain of Life Ministries will no longer be supporting Dr. Chavez and "El Rancho Ciudad de Dios". Due to circumstances we do not condone, we are parting. At a meeting of his Board of Directors, and ours, he informed us that the Ranch Home is his, and no one tells him what to do. It all came to head when two of our board members (women) paid the hired help at the Ranch Home. He insisted that he is the only one who pays them. He didn't want them to sign a receipt, which we need for our annual income, and expenditure report to the IRS. Our accountant requires receipts, for canceled checks and for all transactions. We also discovered that he was paying the help less than we thought he was. Doc made the statement to Pastor Tom Sutherland (a Board member), that he takes no instructions from women, he's a man and no woman tells him what to do. Galatians 3:28 states we are all one in Christ. He seems to think women don't count. Dr. Chavez has also removed one of our boys from the home. Sending him (Beto) back to his mother, who is a prostitute, and drug addict. Beto was sent away for talking to one of the girls (Adriana- Doc's daughter in law's sister) at 2:00 A.M. in the morning, by Gerson Chavez. He stated, both were fully dressed and just talking. Beto says they beat him up, and gave him bus fare to go back to his mother. Her punishment was being sent to her room. We also found out, that he solicits funds from various churches for the same projects. What he does with the extra money, we do not know. He is accountable to no one. Before supporting him, we helped with construction of buildings for his Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation. When he started taking children in 2001, we supported El Rancho with a minimum of one thousand dollars (cash) a month, this does not count food, clothes, bedding, cleaning materials, utensils, and more. Actually anything they needed, was provided. We gave him a bus, which he rents out to the school system in Jimenez, and a truck, and van. Many tools he has were provided by our work teams. We, the Board, feel deeply hurt by what is happened at the Ranch. We have no big problems at the Acuna home (Nueva Fuente De Vida) because we oversee the home, along with both Mexican & American boards. Due to our parting, we will no longer be excepting any mail for Dr. Chavez. Should you have any concerns or questions, please contact us at our address, or phone 1-830-775-3757. In Christ service, Norris W. Blair Psalms 36: 7-9
