Start Them Young

We rely a lot on Leo (17), and older boys at the Ranch to help out on projects. When ever the children want to help, we let them. Junior is 4 yrs. old and always wants to help. So on this project he is helping me carry the wood. You should see his smile as he helps. Doc says Junior prays for us every day.

Being a softy, it brought tears to my eyes to think of this precious 4 yr. old praying for us. Imagine ... a 4 yr. old praying. He's got a good start. We pray the Lord will continue to bless Junior, (who's father deserted him, and his mother didn't want him). Doc and Rosa do a wonderful job with the kids, and teaching them about Jesus.

Praise the Lord

New Groups

A college careers group from St. Johns U.M.C., and two girls from St. Marks U.M.C. came for the first time. Pastor Larry Potts led the group, and found out he had some carpentry skills. Our Grandson, Keith Duffield, the only one who had been here before, along with others, built four nightstands for the boys dorm. The group painted, tiled, grouted, and did other projects that were needed. So many things are done by all the groups that come, it's hard to list everything, but one of the most important things is the interaction with the children. It's not all work when you come. It's showing the love of Jesus to these children, and receiving that love back from them. It is a very rewarding experience.

All In a Day's Work

 There is an on going lice problem at New Fountain of life. The children are always bringing the pesty visitors from school. Imagine having to shampoo 25 heads, wash 25 sets of bedding. Then there's the clothing and towels.
Just wanted to give you a little insight of goings on in a working orphanage. The house parents and staff also deal with educational time tables as well as the health and well being of every child. Then there's birthdays, baths, babies and boardrooms. There's lunches, laughter, and loving the lonely.

There is coughing, cooking, cleaning, and caring.
There is dressing, diapers, discipline and dreaming.
There's you and me with God's help making this all possible,
changing the lives of these neglected and abused innocent lives.

Mathew 18:2-5
And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven". "Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me";

Chickens and Eggs

A chicken house is being built at the Ranch Home. This will allow us to have our own eggs and chickens. Walt Leihr and his wife Carol are in charge of this new project. This will give the boys another job that will contribute to the home. Feel free to participate with any ideas for projects for the home. Your participation

A Work In Progress

Our workshop is now being used to make frames and furniture. Some of our boys are learning this trade. We have been able to sell some, and hope to be able to increase our sales.     The frames that are made can be used for pictures and mirrors. They are very beautifully made with intricate carvings of swans, horses etc.

Here in America we get excited about several things. Many get excited about their favorite sports team. Cheer leaders arouse our enthusiasm. Bands play favorite team songs. Fans go "bonkers" when their favorite team wins. Some get excited when their politician gets elected. Some get excited about a birthday, and some wish birthdays would not come so quickly. Some get excited when the value of their stock goes up. Some get excited about a new baby. How about Easter? At Easter some are excited about a new outfit or a chocolate bunny. How long has it been since you got excited that Jesus rose from the dead? Jesus not only died for our sins, the third day He rose from the dead. He was seen by many people who testify that He really rose bodily from the grave. Because Jesus rose from the dead those of us who trust in Him will also rise from th dead and be with Him in a perfect place forever. Now that is something to get excited about! That is something we can find strength from every day. His resurrection is a truth to motivate us to live a life like the one laid out in the Bible.
